hi.

i have a comapq presario sr1310 IL with an asus k8s-LA
motherboard(salmon). it came with a 250 watt supply.

will a chaintech geforce 6600 AGP(256mb 128 bit) fit on my motherboard
without space problems?

and is my SMPS good enough or would i have to upgrade to higher
wattage?

please also tell me the latest price of this card( only the 128 bit
memory version please)

thank you
archith

The ASUS or NVidia groups would be a better place to ask.

I don't know about your motherboard (ASUS doesn't list it), but if it
has an AGP 8x slot you should be fine. From what I could tell, most
6600GT cards are of average size (mine was actually shorter than my
older GF5900), but keep in mind they mount large heat-sinks on the
cards, so you'll probably need to open up the slot beneath the AGP
slot too (and, if you can, one or two more beneath that to open up
some airflow). You'll have to open up your PC yourself to see if you
can make room.

You will definitely need to upgrade your power supply; 250 watts isn't
going to be enough. You'll want 350W minimum, although I'd personally
recommend 400W just to be on the safe side. And don't skimp and buy a
cheap no-name PSU; get a decent one.

Prices vary depending on brand, retailer and location. I've seen them
for anywhere from 160 to 240 Euros.
