6600k 4.5 ghz vs 8400 at 1440p

Hello everyone,

I have 6600k @4.5GHZ and 1070ti gpu.

I play games a lot at 1440p/2160p @60fps(stable) . I am planning to upgrade my cpu but i am not sure upgrading to 8400 good. I have not seen any benchmarks comparing these two at 1440p so that i am a bit confused. Do you have any idea about this?

Your i5 6600k is plenty good for 2k gaming. Especially since your overclock speed more then makes up for the lack of 2 cores. No real need to upgrade since 2k and up is mostly gpu bound.

Now if you where to get the i5 8600k or the top dog i7 8700k that would make a fairly big difference. I know this because I went from an i5 6600k@4.5ghz to my current i5 8600k@5.0ghz

I also game 2k and I gained somewhere around 20 fps in most games.
