6600k and gtx1070?

Quick question, would a gtx 1070 be bottlenecked by a i5 6600k? i'm planning on building my first pc in the next few weeks and was curious if it would be worthwhile spending a little more cash and getting the i7 6700k? or would a 6600k suffice? Thanks in advance!

this kind of depends on what you are going to be doing, if you are just going to be gaming then the I5-6600k and the GTX 1070 will run perfectly togeather.

In a gaming situation the GPU will always be the bottleneck.
If you do CPU-intensive stuff in the background (streaming your gaming session fe) an i7 might be worth it.
But just plain gaming + talking to friends/listening to music is handled easily by the i5

No, the i5 will not bottlenect the 1070. But get the i7 if you can afford it as it brings other benefits: streaming/recording and productivity stuff.
Plus, the age better 😉

The i5 will give you a better price-to-performance ratio. While the i7 yields more computation horsepower, the gains you will see from using the i7 with the 1070 will be marginal, if even noticeable, from using the i5.

I think the more important factor in this consideration is how many monitors you are planning to use and the resolution & refresh rate of the display(s).

I was considering the i7 as I saw a video where the i5 was at 100% while playing GTA V with the gtx 1070. My budget would be around £1500 max. Any tips on components I could change? Thanks

-better and cheaper MB(the Kraits have a bad rep + you were overspending)
- older Nvidia GPUs underperform in DX12 games. This is architecture related and has been fixed in the new generation. So as games start to move to DX12 the perfromance advantage of the 1070 will only increase. Add to this the extra 2 gigs of vram and this is a no-brainer.
- most importantly: a G-Sync monitor

There is no such thing. The one i linked is the cheapest available, and it's also very good.
Do get a G-Sync monitor. It's a more important investment than any other part of your build as it will last you several build 😉
