hi
as a novice overclocker i just set my cpu (6600k) ratio to 44 and changed vcore from auto to 1.150 in my asus z170 a bios , i used the stability test for 1 hour with aida 64 with no problem ,the max temp of the cpu was 53c.
I didn't change any other settings and xmp is disabled. i could reach 4.4gh without any problems.
what do u think about the overclocking and what else can i do to improve it ?
is everything ok with it?
thanks
cpu cooler :cooler master hyper tx3
psu : corsair 650watt

I can almost guarantee that you didnt need to change the voltage to get that core clock with a 6600k - most will overclock to a stable 4.5ghz by only changing the multiplier to 45.

That said, if everythings stable and running well, then no need to change it.

I suggest enabling the XMP profile to ensure your DDR4 RAM is running at its listed speed (if its above 2133).

For minor overclocks, there is no reason to touch anything but the multiplier with Skylake.

Some motherboard overvolt in auto. Trust me using my skylake and my rog motherboard and after reading probably well over 100-150 various threads across the web of people having similar issues with various motherboard brands the z170 boards have a habit of using in auto mode way to much voltage. Mine out of the box STOCK was volting my cpu to 1.44 volts at stock speeds. Was causing super high temps. After i did manual mode found my lowest stable for now i threw it back into adaptive mode and now at 1.2v and never go over 56c during full load. So if you want the best temps its very much so necessary in alot of cases to manually tweak your voltage whether running stock or overclocked. Auto just isnt smart. Hell i've never ran auto voltage in ANY of my computers.
