6600k to 6700k stuttering when gaming

Hi I need some help. I replaced my 6600k with a 6700k and loaded default settings from bios. The problems I'm getting are stuttering when gaming, htc vive stuttering and jerky, steam vr not loading correctly, YouTube sound is distorted when first loading a video and mouse slow leaving trails. I put the 6600k back in and everything works fine. I've tried a fresh install of windows 10, installed all motherboard drivers etc. I have a msi krait gaming board, 16gb hyper fury, corsair rm750x and a g1 gaming gtx970. I've tested on cinebench and all 8 threads are running. Sorry if I've missed anything but I'm new to this. Hope someone can help me.

If you have problems with the 6700K that you don't have with the 6600K, it sounds like you probably need to RMA the chip. First try a BIOS update though. Is the 6700K listed as compatible with your motherboard (that sounds like a stupid question as I ask it)?

Cheers for your thoughts. I did think it was a faulty cpu but I just wanted some clarification before I sent it back. I have now raised an rma. Thanks again.

Did you get a new i7 6700K? did it solve your problem?

I think I had a similar problem... went from an i5 6600k to an i7 6700k. Got stuttering in games when I ran my 1080P 60hz monitor without Vsync on.
Now I'm on a 1440P 144hz Gsync monitor and im still getting microstuttering.
If I turn off Gsync and just run Vsync... ill get stuttering, Vsync and Gsync off... ill get stuttering

I have read that sometimes Windows won't recognise the extra threads without a reinstall. Shouldn't be needed but apparently sometimes you have too.

I reinstalled the OS, didnt work windows is recognizing all 8 threads
