I know, i know, this question has been asked THOUSANDS of times, one of them was by me, however as my build planning has moved forward and my usage has changed I wanted to ask again. It should be noted that I wasn't able to find a forum or anything that answered my question. Anyways onto the question, which of the CPU's would be better for me 6600k or 6700k? My uses are streaming stuff like gmod, fallout 4, civ v, and just about everything you can think of using OBS about once a month (meaning it isn't priority), recording and editing videos using OBS and Windows Movie Maker (I don't feel like spending money on a good editing program 😛) about once every one or two weeks (meaning slightly higher priority), editing photos using photoshop and stuff (got it for free its legit even), 3D modeling for fun so once again nothing UBER important, and of course gaming. It should also be noted that I'm currently overbudget (thanks to California online purchase taxes) and since i'm 15 I cant just wait a little longer till I have the money as I have no job (although I might be able to get one now that I think about it), anyways downgrading to the 6600k will mean that I can afford the build and possibly get an 850 evo and WD black instead of a SP550 and WD blue. Thanks in advanced.

The I5-6600K...
I'm sure you already know the I5-6600K works well for gaming and the I7-6700K works better for all of the non-gaming things you mentioned. It's about $100-105 difference between the two. It sounds like you can afford the I7, but are now thinking of throwing the money saved by buying the I5 into an SSD and upgrading the HDD. You have to decide what your priority is.

You pretty much have the jist of it, only thing is at my current budget I can't afford my build with a 6700k so I was wondering if the 6600k would do ok atleast at gaming while streaming, the ssd and hdd are an afterthought as the 6600k would end up making me go under budget allowing me to do something with the extra funds I gained from that.

The I5-6600K won't embarrass you, and it will play virtually any game thrown at it. What gpu are you planning to use?

I plan to get a board partner GTX 1080, unless Polaris absolutely kicks Pascals butt, or I can get something like two 980Ti's for like $400-$600 (I know unlikely) or so.

I am planning on overclocking.

Hi, sorry to start this thread back up, but I was thinking I might be able to fit in more features if I switch to an FX-8350. SO what I'm wondering is if the 8350 would preform better at streaming due to it's 8 cores, I was also wondering if it was more equal to an i5 or an i7. In case your wondering heres the AMD version of my build : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JpgzKZ

Check out CPUBoss

And here
My current rig is a couple of years old, I'm using an i5-4670K on an Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 mobo with 8gb RAm and a GTX 780 gpu, and it streams Youtube and Netflix very well.

That pc build is awesome. The AMD FX-8350 is a solid cpu, as you can see from the above links, it suffers on the comparison because it does not have integrated graphics and gets a zero in that area. Integrated graphics is mainly important if your gpu dies, and you have to wait for another one, and you have no graphics in the meantime. So your computer is in a coma until the new card arrives and gets installed. If you have a backup computer or tablet, not really an issue for many.

Wow, thank you very much for the quick reply! I honestly had no idea the 8350 would compete so well, I suppose I shouldn't have listened to the fanboys 🙂p), and with a little overclocking I bet I could make up the points lost in per core performance.
