hi guys, first post here

I came across a strange thing yesterday with my PC. PC was idle then all you hear is all the fans slowly spinning up until it sounded like a jet!
I opened CPUz monitor and all cores were 90+ degress! I had a look in task manager if theres anything in the background running and there was nothing out of the ordinary.

It stayed for about 10 mins in 100 degrees mode and the PC shutdown. Disconnected the PC and the corsair cooler (h100i v2) was a bit hot around where it sits on the CPU. Took the corsair cooler off, cleaned old paste and put a new paste on. Waited about 10 mins, turned PC back on and a message appeared at the bottom saying: " CPU fan speed error detected. Ensure that the CPU fan is properly installed on the CPU_FAN header or adjust/disable the fan speed low limit option the UEFI BIOS"

Ever since I built the PC myself about 9 months ago, I have not touched it as I haven't had any issues from day 1 up until now. I have not overclocked the CPU

I'm not sure where to go from here or which part is the issue, maybe the cpu cooler?

PC specs:
i7 6700K
Asus Maximus VIII Hero
Corsair H100i V2
16GB ram
ASUS 1080

Appreciate your help/guidance to get this fixed asap.

Thanks!
