Discussion 6800xt vs 3080ti

I know this has been throw around a few times, and I've read most of it, but still just curios to see what most of ya'll think.

So I picked up a EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080ti for a good price, and I already have a Asus Tuff 6800xt, And I've looked around and all the benchmarks, but none of them really show the 6800xt with its more current drivers that increased performance in the last couple of months, some graphs do show the 6800xt being nearly on par if not the same as a 3080ti in most things.

I also use More Power Tool to increase the total board power, so the card will use more than the stock power limit and I often beat the stock 6900xt in most benchmarks.

Just curios to what some of ya'll think I should use, Im fine with either, I don't really care about ray tracing, nor so I care about DLSS, the only thing I would like to use would be shadowplay, AMD's version of that is a mess, but im happy with the windows game bar as it can just record the game and only the game audio so I'd pobably end up not using shadowplay anyway.

I do have the resizable bar enabled with my 5900x

Thanks!

It depends what you want I guess? Overclocking the 6800XT will demolish any efficiency and make it cost more to run.
You might care more about DLSS in the future when it extends the life (and resale value) of the card.

But DLSS is more of a gimmik in my opinion, yes it works, but its only a handful of titles and knowing nvidia an their past with other things, Idk if its really worth it at the moment anyway, maybe 5 10 years down the road possibly but you get open source FSR that could have more potential for adoption without the nvidia licenses cost, Definitely a good point though.

I think im going run a bunch of game benchmarks and ddu the driver from my AMD card and install the nvidia card and rerun the same tests, might make up my mind then. 12 vs 16GB of vram don't mean a lot to me.

Thanks man.

So I had a little bit of time yesterday from work, I did do some tests between the cards, my 6800xt was stuck on the latch of my motherboard......

Anyway, the 6800xt when overclocked and allowed to go over its stock total board power, its impressive, I've only tested a few games and few benchmarks and the 6800xt was in the lead in everything, I did do a dirty overclock on the 3080ti, but not fine tune it like I did the 6800xt.

But once I started to play with DLSS, yeah @LordVile is right, It so hard to tell that its upscaled especially when it set to balanced or quality, and it Absolutly mops the floor with the 6800xt even when you have the option for FSR, DLSS looks and performs much better.

I did decided to stick with the 3080ti, it was already in my system and I was lazy to pull it again, had to fight for a half hour to get the 6800xt out of the pcie slot, the little tab on the 6800xt is slightly longer than other cards so I darn near had to break the lever.... Thanks Asus...

I did mange to get the 3080ti to overclock +130mhz on the core and +1600mhz on the memory, with them clocks it does beat the 6800xt in the few games tried it in without DLSS of course it lost in MW2 but yeah that game Nvidia isn't doing to great it atm, But Im happy with it.
