Question 680x Cooling

I have a Corsair 680x case and Corsair provides a reference build for water cooling for that case. Radiators can be added to the bottom, front and top of the case. All three areas show fans blowing hot air out of the case with cool air coming in from the rear. My question is does it need a fan in the rear? The case comes with one but they do not show it in the reference build.

can you send links to the these refrence builds?
tho I doubt any refrence designs draw fresh air from the REAR
I would put the rad on top
and use it as exhaust
cause
hot air raises?
