Here is an excerpt from an article at The Register.

"VIA has confirmed a data-damaging glitch in its 686B Southbridge chip - a major part of the Taiwanese company's KT-133A chipset - and is working with mobo makers to prepare BIOS updates to fix the problem."

Tehy finally admitted it? But only for that southbridge? They have had this problem for at least 3 generations of chipsets! I would just get my last system to run stable, then, after a week or so, I would have so many currupt files my computer would start bluescreening whenever I touched it. Even the screensaver sould crash it out. So I had to reload about once a week!

Suicide is painless...........

Hey, www.viahardware.com has posted a beta patch to fix the problem!

Paul's Unofficial Abit KT7 FAQ seems to be implying that the patch may also fix what was thought to be sound card problems.

I wonder if this patch will fix the infamous "games pausing" problem?
