Hi guys!
So im about to swap out my Ati Radeon 5570 Reference Model card for a new card, the ones i´ve got my eyes on atm are: the nvidia 460,ATI 6870, 6850,6950 and the 5870.
They are priced almost at the same level with a price tag of around 40dollars seperating the prices.
So the question is quite simple..which card would be the best buy? Im gonna play alot of games, like : MW3 , BF3 , WoW, Rage, and the list goes on, id like a card that would max these games, excluding BF3..since BF3 would require a 6990 at the least from what i´ve read on various forums.
Id get a 6950 right away by the looks of it atm, but its a saphire 6950..and i´ve had bad experiences with saphire models...so which one of these cards would be the best?
Specs:
Intel Core i7 860 Quad
6gig ram
500PSU

If any of these cards would be to much for my PSU, please tell me and il scratch that one of the list, i am NOT replacing any other PC component for another year or 2.

NOTE: IM gonna swap out the card i get when the 7xxx / 6xx END cards come out next year, keep that in mind. I will not OC, only buy factory OC´ed cards.

Thanks for your inputs!

Resolution will be 1680, Sorry but what does IMP stand for?
I think il change my mind about the 6950..think il scratch it of my list.. so the 5870 would be ideal? i heard it produces alot of noise and high tempertures , is that true?

Lol, bf3 doesn't require a 6990 to play it. That is ridiculous for anybody to think that they know what will run bf3. I could run it at high settings with a nice buttery frame rate. But this is only the beta, so nobody really knows until it's actually released.

IMP is Important, 5870 is overkill at this resolution anyway. max out any game out there with the exception of some.
Any reference designed card runs hotter and noisy, what brand of 5870 will you get, provide a link.

Yeah at the beta it ran silky smooth on medium settings, i ment maxing it out would requie a 6990/590, so i heard.

Il look into my PSU tomorow or later this week, since im not with my rig at this time.

It will run silently, no issues... if you'll just be overclocking and raising up the fans, you'll hear a little bit noise...but as long as you're on stock... you're good to go.
That being said a GTX 590 for BF3...this doesn't make any sense

Yarr i hear you about the BF3 thingy, i read some guy on HardwareCanucks mention that the full game will require it to max it out..but w/e
So the 5870 would be a good buy for me? The diffrence @ the price tag between the 6870 and the 5870 will be around 30USD

I wouldnt mind seing some benchies to prove your case , if your willing to provide them that is :)
THanks for your inputs thus far, very helpfull!

For sure, but you'll need a good 750W PSU.
and the HD 6K series scales better than HD 5k series...
So better wait for the new HD 7k series they are XDR2 memory which is twice faster than GDDR5

I think your cpu and psu are fine for a xfire setup. It all depends if your MOBO Supports it. :bounce:

If from what i understand it has a 2.5ghz clock. I think you'll be fine if you overclock it.
