6900k with 2666mhz ram?

Will the intel i7 6900k work with ddr4 2666mhz ram? Also another question. What is a better workstation/gaming processor? the i7 5960x or the i7 6900k? would it be worth it to just overclock the 5960x a little?

The 5960x is 8 hyperthreaded cores at 3.0 ghz base and most overclock tot he 4.4Ghz range.
The 6900k is 4 hyperthreaded cores at 3.2Ghz base and reportedly will only overclock to about 4.3Ghz.

To me the 5960x is the clear winner in Overclocking, Gaming, and workstation functions.
