6970 or 660 (non Ti) vs 7870

I am looking to upgrade from 5770/5750 crossfire on a 1080P monitor to a higher end card and a triple monitor setup at 3072x768 and have been looking into these 3 cards.

You can get 6970's on ebay for around $170 and 660's for around $160 and if the prices weren't jacked up the 7870 is around there used too.

Which would be the best for that res?

7870 woud be the best one. There was one mode at about that price this weekend at newegg.
Optionally R9 270 and R9 270X are in the $185-$210, both capable of handling 1080p, and as such the triple monitor setup at that resolution as well.

Ok so if I can't get the 7870 or 270 for around this price for whatever reason what would the second best be?

GTX 660 and HD 7870 aie 2.6x faster than HD 5770 , they are equal
HD 6970 is.2.16x faster than HD 5770 .

So , HD 6970 is useless .
i suggest you get GTX 760 or at least R9 270 , so that you could sense change -2x increase at least.

I wouldn't really get anything less than those.
This one seems to be on sale with MIR.

660 is similar in performance to 7870, 270 is around 5-10% better than both of them so if u cant get 270 then get the 660.

270 is too much so I can't get it.

So 660 and 7870 are the same basically?

Ok then, probably gonna end up getting the 660 unless I find a refurb 7870 for cheap.
