6gb gtx 970m vs 3gb for 2018 game titles

Will the 6gb version of the 970m offer any benefits over the 3gb in 2018 titles and beyond?

There will be benefits, as modern games tend to become even more VRAM-hungry. It is a more futureproof solution.

Thanks for your response. I had already checked out all the previous threads on this topic but they were all from a couple years ago and had suggested that the 970m wasn’t able to utilize anything above 3gb’s anyway.

It depends on the resolution. At 1080p, more than 3GB won't be of much use. At higher resolutions, extra VRAM will be useful.

Just wondering because I just bought a used cyberpower laptop with a i7 6820hk, gtx 970m 6gb and 8gb of ddr4 2133mhz ram. Unfortunately it has a 1080p display.

It is just excess. Won't hurt performance, won't improve it either. Be happy that you have it!
