Hi i am using i7 2600 which has 8m cache and now i want change it. Son now days i7 5th gen proccessors are coming with 6m cache. So what is the difference between 6m cache and 8m cache. Will it affect my gaming and overall performence significantly?

Solution
The difference is 2m of cache.

Yes, going from a second generation to a fifth generation processor will affect your gaming and overall performance. Significantly. Depending on what you game and overall perform.

You would need to look up what the 6th gen processors use as an interface (called a socket). If it is not 1150, then you will need a new motherboard for those 6th gen CPUs. I don't know off the top of my head what it will be.

Wait... I remember now, it will change to a 1151 socket, so keep that in mind!
