I have modular thermaltake 730w smart se

It came with system and dont have 2 cables coming from 8pin to 6+2 pci e...

I got some free 6pin to 6+2 cables can it be used with that psu ll 6pin it work in 8 pin socket of Psu?

Please let me know if some one tried it...

Thank u

I live in UAE i cant find one i searched some shops for it but 🙁.. And i wont be able to get it from thermaltake company.

Can i use it in reverse direction? 6+2 pin into 8pin socket of psu? Any one tried?

You just send them an email asking where you can buy the cable for your specific power supply and they'll either tell you where to buy one or they may do what they did for me which is just ask for your address and ship you one completely free of charge.

Which socket do you mean? Theres a cpu socket and sockets for graphics cards, your comment about 6+2 pcie confuses things.

PCIe supplementary power connectors from gpus accommodate graphics cards that require 6pin or an 8pin. Often 8pins slit to a 6pin depending on the gpu and if the psu is good enough to supply cables will have means for both 6+2ping y cables.

Odler cpus required a 4pin cable to the motherboard. Newer generations require an 8pin. Newer PSUs have 8pin cpu connectors that split in half to 4pin to be compatible for older 4 pin varients.

If your psu only has 4pin plug for your motherboard when it requires an 8, will need a new psu.

His psu only has 2 x 8pin pcie sockets. but he only has a cable(not from that psu) thats 6pin to 8pinpcie

Bro i have one molex for 6pin,

One question more if i use 2 x 6pin / 8pin molex ll it be burdening psu that specific rails? ( my psu seems to have 1 12v rail i think correct me if i m wrong)

Are you sure that 8pin is for MB and not as I suspect for PCIe ? if it's a single rail PSU you don't have to worry about where you pick power from.
Adapter I suggested is from 2 x 4pin Molex connectors, the ones for older type HDD, there's usually few of them. I'm surprised it didn't come with 8pin MB connector or at least 2x4 pin on one cable. Most MBs ever since P4 need at least a 4pin connector on the MB.

Bro if u check the psu in google 730w smart se u ll see cpu power is embedded with the main cable. The two 8pin sockets are pci e power. I am having some basic knowledge about these psu which cable is for which.. I just wanted to know if 6pin ll work in the 8pin socket or no (it ll not fit thats i know but to break and make it fix in the 8pin place) i checked some diagrams for 8pin but they are confusing me...

No it would not, 8pin MB socket has four +12v leads in one line and 4 ground ones in other line, you can get those voltages from anywhere just have to know that most power to CPU, RAM and PCI/PCIe lines comes from it and can draw a lot of power. In most cases you can get away with using only 4 pins in that socket if you don't have to high load on places that draw power from it.
Once in a pinch I made that connector by cutting wires from another PSU. One from P4 connector and other one from added 4pin for 20+4 pin main. plastic on those connectors fits in 8pin mobo connector.
Check your MB manual for polarity.

hmm so u made one 4 pin by urself can i make this 6 pin as for 8 pin socket in PSU ? is it possable cuz i cudnt find 8pin to 6+2 in my area

No, I didn't use any 6 pin. One was 4pin from P4 connector and other 4 pin was from 20+4 main board connector. On the other side i used two 4pin Molex connectors for HDDs from which I used only Yellow and Black wires, Yellow is +12v and Black is Ground. Basically same as adapter I linked for you.
I used those connectors because they physically fit 8pin MB connector. There's nothing else that fits like them.
P.S.
Here's a lot about pinouts for most anything: http://pinouts.ru/Power/

hi again guys .. i order Silverstone Tek Sleeved 1x PCI-E 8-Pin (6+2) 550mm Cable (PP06B-PCIE55) ..from one site here they order from US .. it reached today i was trying to put it in my PSU pcie socket but it wasnt going in .. then i check the upper 2 pins are attached so i cut it with knife and put it back and now it seems working for my GPU .. i got only one and i have 2 6pin for GPU so using one molex ..

my question is now is it safe to use like that ? (cutting the two pin joint ) ??
