Was wondering if anyone had any insight on why a new 6tb WD sata drive (blue) would not be initializing and refusing to.
It shows as just an empty drive, 0 space and won't initialize to GPT.
The motherboard is older: MSI B75MA-P45. I did add a 3tb drive last year and added a 3D nand drive last week. No issues. The bios sees it as a WD60EZAZ.
Running laters version of Win10. Nothing shows in the "This PC" window. Computer Management sees it, but can't do anything with it. CMD diskpart and list drive sees it, but with 0. Says it is online, but can't do anything with it.
The WD tools just sees it as (ATA) and it fails every test and format.

It arrived yesterday on a very cold day. Wasn't outside long, as I was checking all day. It was cold. I put it by the machine for 4/4.5 hours before I installed it.

I think it winds up. I hear something.

I've used several cables and motherboard connections. I've started it up with all the other drives, none of the other drives, just the ssd startup drive.
I've tried EaseUS Partition Master, didn't see it.

Can't find any WD installers. Didn't come with a disk.
Sata drivers?
Bad drive?
Old motherboard limits?
If it was to get initialized, would it possibly be a questionable drive?

Thoughts?
Thank you.
(fan of western digital. all drives are western digital, except for a few that came with other machines.)

Since you are familiar with diskpart, simply run diskpart and then use the following commands:
diskpart <enter>
list disk <enter>
select disk n <enter> (where n is the 6TB drive)
clean <enter>
convert gpt <enter>
exit <enter>

Then you should be able to do a quick NTFS format. If that fails and WD Data Lifeguard diagnostics still show issues, RMA it.

Was just going to return it to best buy.
Any reason to believe a 6tb drive would not work on this motherboard? I didn't think it would be an issue.
