Just curious to know how well a 6th gen i5 would hold up with 4K editing and 32GB RAM w/ a dedicated GPU. I work mainly in After Effects and Sony Vegas- AE can contain many layers. Just would like to know if an i5 can handle it or if its worth the extra money to jump to an i7.
Would be either i5-6400 or i5-6600

Solution
From everything I've read editing loves more cores and faster frequencies. From that bit alone I would go with the i7-6700 or i7-6700k. I know it is more expensive, especially considering the lower end i5, but the hyper threading and higher speed will benefit you.

Nah more for a hobby than anything. I was mainly thinking of going i7s but was wondering if an i5 could work for less the money ha ha. I didn't think it would but it never hurts to double check. I currently edit in 4K with an FX 8350 but am currently looking into building a new machine sooner or later that can handle gaming and 4K editing very well. Thanks for the recommendations! Figured as much but never hurts to double check.
