Hello!

So its been a long time and now I'm in the market for a new monitor. I've been reading a lot of reviews but still feel like I'm on the fence. I currently have a NEC multisync LCD2470wnx which has served me well and will probably be my second monitor replacing the crapy samsung I am currently using for a second monitor.

I am a 3D artist for a living and do some freelance work at home so color is important. I am also a causal gamer but not very serious about it these days, just when I have extra time.

The first monitor I came across that really peaked my interest was the Dell u2715h because of its high color accuracy and good reviews, but it also sounds like there are a lot of light leak issues from what I have read.

The other monitor that has peaked my interest is the ASUS PB279Q 4K. Now I don't have much, if any, experience with a 4K monitor but the reviews on this sound pretty amazing. I wonder if the interface on programs like zbrush will be really tiny and if that will bother me, but I also wonder if games and images I am working on will look that much more amazing? The extra screen space would be nice though. I am running a 980ti so powering a 4K shouldn't be a problem. Also, why so many HDMI ports on this thing and how would I make use of them effectively?

Are there other monitors I should be considering around this price point $500-$700? Color and image quality are my main concerns followed by video and gaming graphics. Have any of you had experience with these monitors?

Thanks in advance!

I'm also shopping for a a monitor that will allow me to do casual gaming and graphic design. I came across this BenQ which has pretty good reviews http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/benq-sw2700pt-27-inch-qhd-professional-monitor,4374.html. I've been thinking about 4k but I've read that some software like 3ds Max doesn't scale well and text and icons end up being really tiny. Another interesting option could be a 4k 32in, but I'm wondering if its a monster and will not fit on my desk. What do you think?

Thanks for the feedback. Think I'm gonna avoid curved screens for the time being but appreciate the input!

No problem and dont rush into it...both monitors are great, I picked the 4k monitor because I think it will serve you better but pixels arent the only thing that determines great picture quality so I would do more research and find the best monitor. Good Luck

Thanks, yeah I don't always do work for print but on occasion I do and would be happy knowing my monitor is somewhat color accurate even if I'm not balancing to whatever printer is being used.

Why do you like this Ben Q? Do you own this one?

thanks for the suggestion. The Benq BL3200PT has really good reviews and is pushing me in that direction. I have a dell u3011 at work and thats pretty big so two inches bigger might be pretty insane, so I;m still considering if I want something that big. Would probably do away with my second monitor if I got this.
