After lurking here and learning a bunch I'm going to try my first build. I do need to buy Windows 7 so there goes $100 right there. I've put together a list of components that look to me like they will work, but I don't have the background or knowledge you guys do so look it over and please let me know what you think. Specifically the motherboard and RAM are of concern to me.

Excellent build, janxta has some good ideas also, but it depends what you're looking for into the future (crossfire or 6GB sata ssd) Either way you did your homework and it's a good build.

You can get a cheaper case/PSU and a better video card or CPU, whatever.

you could this at a cheaper price then the Thermaltake Element T.

Thanks for the board recommendation. My intent was to go with a 6gb/s, USB 3.0, but I was a little leery of no on-board graphics should something happen to my card. I had this one on my comparison list. I probably need to go with one that offers on-board and 6gb/s, USB 3.0.
Is the RAM you recommended better in terms of timings?

Thanks for the feedback. It is reassuring that it looks like it will work. Now I just need to make some final decisions, order and assemble.

Very solid build, however some changes could be done.

The rana 435 2.9 ghz triple core will beat the propus 2.6 quad in gaming.
Might want to look into a higher wattage PSU for future upgrades.

Definitely wanna hit a 5770 up in this price range.

Ram with tighter timings is better.

Fired it up last night and got the single beep. All is well so far. Idles at 35*C
