$700 Gaming Rig

Well I've been working for awhile on this rig...couple months trying to get the best for the cheapest..
And so far it's been going good, I just need some opinions and maybe a couple suggestions. I'd like to play BF3 60+ fps, I don't really care about graphics, since Battlefield games look pretty good on lower settings anyways. But I'll mostly be playing Call of Duty: MW3 and Black Ops.

I live in the United States and I'd like to get everything from Newegg. I will not be doing overclocking of any kind. I wanna keep it around $650 or even lower. I wanna get it cheap as possible, $700 is my budget, but i wanna keep it under that.

Also, is there THAT much of a difference between the 2400 and 2500 besides the clock speeds? Should i get the 2400?

Sounds like a good system. I don't see any problems with it.

The difference between the 2400 and 2500 is 3.1 vs 3.3 Ghz. I don't think that's much of a difference, and if it saves you $30, then go for it.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I think I'm gonna get the 2400 and use that extra money for another 4GB stick of RAM, we'll see. But you think this will handle BF3 and hm... maybe games for the next two years 60+ fps?

Don't really think an i3 will cut it, i mainly play Black Ops, and Black Ops is one of the most terrible ports in terms of optimization I've ever seen. It runs pretty bad on a dual core, i also wanna play BF3 so i don't think an i3 will cut it. Plus I want an i5 because i want this machine to last around 2 years.

i5 2400 for $60 more.

But the i3 2100 should be sufficient for running any game ATM. It outperforms Intel Core 2 Quads and Phenom II X4's (even X6's) in Gaming. The reason is hyperthreading. It can process 4 threads at the same time being a dual core.

Yeah, I know it has hyperthreading, but still. I see a more long term value in an i5. I don't need a 1TB HDD, 500GB is plenty for me. My rig I have now has a 300GB harddrive, I still have 200GB left and it's 2 years old.

That RAM is just a 1333Mhz one. (Cheapest available DDR3 from Corsair)
You can get a 500GB HDD. No one would stop you. lol!
I've wrote on my first post itself that you can just change the CPU with an i5 2400 for $60 more. How could I know all your personal preferences?

Yea, I'm gonna get the 2400 and get an 8GB kit instead, Thanks for the reply.

I listed the 8GB memory in the first post. Did you think it was a 4GB one and thats why called it "costly" ? 😛
