Hello all be a lurker on the site for many many years. Recently was given a few gift cards to overstock.com and actually have a credit with them totals to about $700. Wanting to get back into the PC scene as console gaming just isn't doing it for me. I have a few components laying around between my brother and I. But pretty much need the major stuff. I don't do heavy hardcore gaming just the typical world of Warcraft and Diablo. Wanting to snag a build for around that price point. I saw they only sell Intel components or cyber power pre builts which look like they use super cheap low end components. I have a case monitor and keyboard. Have fans too. So just need some advice on cpu, motherboard, memory, hard drive and graphics. My only obstacle to climb I guess would be I can only use overstock.com and I don't know if the processers and stuff they sell on there are any good or not. Any advice on the stuff they sell there let me know. Appreciate it!

Solution
I would not worry about cpu bottlenecks with quad core intel cpus as much as gpu bottlenecks. I would not worry about ram speeds either. It is okay to go with an hdd despite their slowness. If you wait 2 months the price of gpus like the gtx 980 will drop a lot.

thank you very much for the response. I meant to update this thread I actually have a hard drive and optical drive as well to use. So that frees even more up. I was curious as to why you chose the 4460 instead of the 4690? Love the gcard choice tho I went as low as the gtx960 lol But the more I look at your list I see you did min components to make room for a beast of a card lol.

The cpus are not that big of a bottleneck. I only see a few fps difference of $30. You can spend more for the little more performance, but I like to focus resources towards the gpu since you will get more fps/$ going for the high end in comparison to cpus. Look at the old 2012 cpus vs the new 2016 cpus, there is little difference in gaming.

Thank you very much for all the great info, with more research on my end and your suggestions I purchased this set up here:

I ended up having to get a power supply and will have to get a case the ones my brother had were, eh lol

All in all I am happy with this build all I am playing is wow and maybe some diablo so this should suit my needs just right. I can maybe down the road upgrade but for now I feel this works. I am using a buddys loaner laptop that uses the gtx960m 2gb and it runs the game just fine for me. I appretiate the info and advice!!

Processor - i5 4460
MB- Asus H97M-E/CSM
Memory- Crucial Balistic Sport 8gb
Power Supply- Corsair cs Series 650m
GPU- Strix gtx 960 4gb

Well the laptop I have been using runs it on ultra at 60 fps mainly doing solo maybe lfr down the road very casual player. I'm using my buddies Lenovo rog that has i7 sky lake in it and gtx 960 I know this processor is loads better. Sadly I couldn't find a skylake processor on over stock . Com this was going for a 0 out of pocket build with using the store credits I had I came in at the end with 22 bucks to spare lol
