Have had a 7970 now almost since launch previously had 6870 for only a few month my first build. New to the pc world. I paid 700$ compared to the 250$ for the 6870. I just wanna know how far my investMENT is going to take me. How much longer til this card isint top dawg anymore for "AMD"..Basicaly how much longer am i gonna max out everygame and enjoy these beautiful vusials?

It depends, if you are always going to play the new titles then it will not last you a very long time because graphics change so fast. If you are always going to play the same games over and over again then it will last you forever because it will be "this" good for these games so it will always be the same.

Technology marches on. I think the 8000 series is due out this spring. So 3-4 months left.

Just me, but I find that the difference from low to ultra in setting is like this

low----------------------------------------------medium---high-------ultra

So, really playing on medium isn't bad at all.

Theres no game and isint gonna be one thats gonna slow my card down. And theres no game no will push the kepler so whats the point with amd releasing another card in 3-4 from now when current games dont push my hardware now

Check out Crysis 3 specs. Seems pretty exciting to me.
 
it's not about no games can't tax the gpu in its more about to compete with your competitor product. also these company will do something so you get their fastest product. for example amd starts the multi monitor gaming scene with their eyefinity. mid range gpu will not be able to handle all the games with max setting while maintaining 60fps. and in the professional market there is no things such as excessive performance
