i will be using a new PC on a new monitor soon and its max reso is 1366x768.but the monitor says its a 720p LED.is 1366x768 still conisdered 720p? how would playing on 1366x768 effect performance on the monitor if its a 720p monitor running at 1366x768.

Solution
Monitors are generally specified as 720p if they are close to that resolution. The difference between 1366x768 and 1280x720 is somewhat minimal, so for marketing purposes, most consumers will recognize something that says "720p" more than they will something that says "768p". The monitor most likely has a native resolution of 1366x768, and is just advertised as 720p. It can display anything at that resolution or lower, including 720p.

Here is a tip. If you want better performance (~5 fps) without completely ruining graphical looks, play stuff on 1280x720 on the 1366x768 screen. You won't notice a huge difference except in text.
I don't think I've seen any screens that are actually "1280x720" resolution aka 720p, so I'm not sure where you got the info that was the case.

It's probably a 1366x768 resolution.

Even if it WAS the case then the only way to (sort of) play at a higher resolution is to do things like anti-aliasing and similar scaling though that's all converted back into a resolution that the monitor can handle (rendering at higher resolutions helps eliminated jagged edges).

Performance drops as the resolution increases but since there's such a small difference it would be not very significant.
