Hello everyone, I'm new to Tom'sHardware and I've been in search for something that is bugging my mind pretty bad... coudn't find it anywhere.

Right now, I have a PS3 and my PC connected to the same monitor, which natively outputs 1080p 60hz.

I also have the game L.A. Noire on both platforms. Then it comes my question.

Why does the PS3 outputs better image picture (sharper edges, better sharpness in distant objects) than my PC, outputing in the same resolution? My PC is resulting in blurry edges, worse texture in distant objects obviously because is not running in its native resolution. I would say that it's due to the upscaling, but I don't think this game is compatible with upscaled 1080p.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Edit1: I've noticed this in a few other games, running all on highest settings on PC.

Resolution is only part of the settings for quality, as is the way the game is coded and even what textures and other items it uses in the game engine.

You really can't compare the two things especially in a single game. It's like judging a restaurant on a single dish you tried there.

Define what you mean by "sharper edges"?

PC has antialiasing, which is used to soften jagged edges around 3d objects.

The PS3 also kinda, does a lot of tricks to technically upgrade the image by hiding the things that are wrong with it.

Since the monitor is upscaling both images to fit it in 1080p it may be the monitor.
