i'm looking for a new graphics card and i currently own a 750 Ti. I recently bought and returned a R9 290X from Amazon.com and I'm sad to report that although the picture quality was amazing at times, during the times that it wasn't so nice it was pretty hard to look at. It was snowing pixels sometimes and the colors would become really blotchy for a few games. There was tearing and some other things happening. Anyway, I just ordered the GTX 970 from Amazon.com and will let you guys know how it goes tomorrow night. Not that I'm keeping the 750 Ti, but currently it displays beautifully and I couldn't ask for more at such a good price. The first graphics card I ever owned was a Radeon and that was years ago. I remember it being quite nice, however I wasn't a gamer back then. I guess Nvidia takes the cake so far. I had high hopes for the R9 290X. Maybe I just had a bad card, who knows? I think subconsciously I've been nvidia-fied. Anyway, I just wanted to get some thoughts about anyones experiences/recommendations? Thanks in advance guys.

Nvidia has very good driver support and they reseal a new driver every month at least. AMD Graphic cards are also very good. But the drivers really suck. I had an AMD HD 6750 and had some issues with the driver. But my GTX 560 is running like hell with no issues. I would still say if you can afford it, go for GTX 980 if it is not too late for the order to be shipped. Otherwise GTX 970 would also be a very good card.

Only is AMD Graphic cards Drivers were good and did'nt cause problems, they would have turned out to be the best of both.

Despite #ramgate, the 970 still has such a better price/performance ratio than the 980. I would not recommend the 980 unless price is not an issue and you just want the best that is out there.

Oops. For got about the price issues. Thank you for reminding.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your guys feedback. I figured AMD was lacking driver support because the hardware is beastly, yet somehow the output didn't match my expectations. TBH my 750 Ti does a better job at tidying up the pixels and edges (which might be kind of embarrassing?). Thanks again everyone and particular thanks to Sensei. Sensei is very wise.

nb7760-you are completely right. the 980 is just not at the tipping point yet.

sizzling-i agree the drivers are completely lacking
