Hi all, I am looking to buy a 750 ti most probably the MSI version but my question is that I will be fitting this graphics card into a pre built tower which has already got a 230W psu installed as standard, I have read that I do not need to worry about the power supply as these cards use low power consumption so would I be fine just installing the card without the worry of frying it or other components ? also would it bottleneck an Intel i3 3240T 2.9Ghz cpu ?

@Ahmadjon - Yeah i was thinking that I would most probably and be better to be on the safe side and upgrade the PSU to a higher what such as 500W or above.

@RobCrezz - I have no idea what the amps are on the 12V rail, this current PSU is in a friends computer so I would have to have a look, but I might just recommend him to upgrade his PSU to a better one in order to be able to run the 750ti.

What would you both recommend please ? thank you very much for your advice too.

Definitely get new PSU just look at this http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/26/exploding_computer_vs_reg_reader/

@RobCrezz - The spec of the system as far as I know is, my friend brought this computer from PC World abeout a month or two ago. I have added a link below as this might help you with the advice you give me.

CPU: Intel i3 3240T 2.9Ghz
Mobo - Not Sure
Memory - 6GB (Not sure of Frequency)
OS - Windows 8 64Bit
Monitor - 21'' VGA (Non-Hdmi) 1600x900 Res.

@Ahmadjon - Yeah from looking a reading that article that has definitely told me that Its highly recommended to get a better and stable PSU. I was just confused a bit as people was saying the 750ti uses lower power consumption than it states in the specs.

Yes people talks that they run, but they don't guaranty you that you won't have problems and if you look at wattage in Asus site you'll see that 250W is a peak and not true 250W! i think it gives true 200W maybe lower anyway it's really bad cheaping out on PSU!

@RobCrezz - Yeah I'm hoping that it does too, I think the best thing I could probably do is take a look side and find out more information as I am going with what my friend has told me atm. I mean he only wants to play games such as DAY-Z, Minecraft and a few MMPORPG's, but I want to make sure that when he gets his new Graphics card that it fits in the case and everything else, but as he is on a budget I don't think he is going to be too pleased to know he needs to upgrade his PSU to a better one in order to have the graphics card lol.

@Ahmadjon - Yeah I totally understand what your saying and where your coming from, me personaly I wouldnt recommend anyone to use a low whatt cheap PSU in there computer if its intended to use for gaming because it will just cause more problems in the future and its not worth it tbh so people might as well just pay the extra for a decent stable PSU such as brands like Corsair, XFX, Seasonic.
