750w, +12v 54A GTX570 SLi?

Hi guys!

Im buying this PSU for an SLi build of the new GTX560 ti (448 core):

Now they say that the gtx560 ti 448 core, which is launching on Nov.29, is just a downclocked gtx 570 so i'm wondering if that PSU can handle gtx 570s in SLi. I know 750watts should cut it, but it only has a +12v 54A rail.

I'll be using this with a single HDD, an i5-2500k, a dvd burner, 4 120mm case fans and 1 200mm case fan, and a coolermaster v8 cpu heatsink.

Im buying this PSU cos after promo codes and rebates, it's coming out at $70 only. As compared to the corsair tx 750 which is like $110.

Any opinion would mean a lot. thanks!

you can have a read through here, frankly they are suggesting 750W/850W should do it but you might cut it fine - granted this poster on nvidia forum has different cpu

Id recommend 850W to be certain, I'd suggest do a bit of reading on your part (above link), consideration of the whole system and more input from Tom's readers for sure

given my own experiences I wouldn't chance it, although I'm sure you will get lots suggesting it will be fine

I was using 750W Cooler Master GX (p.o.s. imho) and it started rattling (not very loud granted), I now have 1000W OCZ ZX and all is well again

thanks chaz! unfortunately, i've already bought the PSU above. What i haven't bought yet is the graphics card.

If that PSU can handle gtx570 sli, then im guessing it can also handle the new gtx 560 ti (448 core) in SLI so i'll probably wait for the launch on nov. 29 and i'll buy 2 560ti (448) for SLI.

If you guys think that it CANT handle the new 560 ti in SLI (since they're based on the GF110 chip), then i'll just buy the old 560 ti and SLI that (the 384 core one, based off of GF114) since those require a lot less power and the PSU above can surely handle it.

its late here and i think i got carried away with the mention of 570

after re-reading and looking at your reply I would go with the latter - and suggest you might struggle with SLI GTX 560 ti (448). me thinks we need some input from 384bit and/or mousemonkey here ;-)

I did haver a look at one of the cheaper 570 on market today and picked this up for the single 570:

A minimum 550W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 38A)*
(*Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz processor)
although the amp figure seems way high, surely a single 570 wouldnt ever draw/require 38x12=456W ???

I'm not 384 bit or the moderator mousemonkey but i'll answer the question with ease and knowledge.

@Original Poster,
Your PSU should handle the 2 GTX 570 in SLI pretty, they consume 441W in full load so the 350W is pretty enough for the system even if with OCing.
If you're going to do a serious Overclocking and be pushing every nail in your PC to the limits then a 800W PSU is your choice.
But the article who stated the launch for the upgraded GTX 560ti never stated anything about Power consumption, but anyway A 750W is superb for GTX 570 in SLI
