Hello, I have an RX 480 8GB, but a crappy display.
So can you people help me in getting a good monitor for my RX 480 ?
I am confused and I have two options in my hand.
75 Hz Freesync (lg23mp68vq) (175$ approx)
144hz non-freesync (lg24gm77) (320 $ approx)
So which do you think I should go for ???
144hz with Freesync is a bit costly here in India (400$+). I am on a budget. I play any type of games I can get my hands on. In short I am casual gamer. So which monitor should I go for ????
Thanks.

Freesync gives much smoother experience by syncing with the display. The frames from the graphics Card sync up with the new frames on the monitor, and everything is super smooth. it provides no Screen tearing, no Vsync Lag, and increased smoothness. in other words, freesync makes the Gameplay much smoother and lag-free.
if your pc can deliver more then 100 FPS then you can go for a 144Hz monitor. it will give you benefit in FPS games and will allow you to enjoy much smoother gameplay. on the other hand the freesync Monitor will allow you only 75 FPS to view. but the graphics card you have will take a good advantage of freesync, it will knock out screen tearing and lag and it will make 75Hz way better.

My advice is to go for the 75Hz...

My advice is to go for the 75Hz if you want most out of your money, or go for the 144Hz for more future Proofing and much better fps.

Thanks for reading my answer hope it helps (sorry for my bad english)

Another way to look @ this is.. people who have 144 hrz monitors can't go to anything less than that from then on.

If you can't buy a 144hrz with free sync, I'd still suggest the 144hrz. You will not regret it.

I play anything i can get like RPG, racing, FPS... etc.. Infact all games. Casual Gamer.

Thanks buddy, My GPU can deliver 75+ FPS in most games as i'll be going for a 1080p display. And i do not want to go for a TN panel as all 144hz are TN panels but the 144hz lures me.. 😀

But there'll be screen tearing without Freesync, right ????

You may face screen-tearing in a non-freesync monitor, that's why i recommended you a freesync monitor for your current PC. but you can eliminate screen-tearing in rx 480 by some tweaks. a simple google search will help you out.
But if you ever wanna to upgrade to make your pc more powerful, then i strongly recommend you to go for a 144Hz monitor instead, it you will not regret it. there are many great non freesync 144Hz monitors available in the market, they can eliminate lags and screen-tearing without the help of freesync.

No, I play MMORPG's FPS..etc and I don't have screen tearing, normally that is all related to the drop is frames... like if you are @ 120 and then drop to 50 you might see it

I can say that I've tried going from 144hrz to 75 and it wasn't possible for me.

Cool, I think i'll save up for a 144hz Freesync.

Thanks a lot. :)
