Question 75hz not working

Hi, I have a 75hz Samsung monitor but I can't get it to run at 75hz, I've tried changing the refresh rate in settings, to no avail. also, my HDMI cable shouldn't be the problem as my brother uses it for his pc and it runs at 75hz just fine. it may be the gpu as its an old hd 4890, but I've tried it with my APU too, it could be because my APU is not 75hz compatible but I've never heard that being the case before. my motherboard could also be the problem but I'm not sure, any help is appreciated, feel free to ask for more details

Which GPU do you have? It could be that it doesn't have HDMI1.3 so then you would be limited to 60hz

I've already said fella, it's the HD 4890, and it's unlikely to be the HDMI cable because my brother has tested it with his pc and it works at 75hz

well...when i installed the GPU i had to do it manually, and i installed the latest ones from the AMD website, so i should be good on the driver update

I have yet to see a 4890 without HDMI 1.3, but I may be wrong.

Regarding OP's inquiry: are you using 1080p or 1440p resolution? This card could not support over 60hz at 1440p over HDMI.

just 1080p but ive tried a few other resolutions too
