I have a Gigabyte RX480 G1, which only has 1 HDMI port, and I had been using it with my Dell monitor at 75hz 1080p using a normal HDMI to HDMI cable. However, I got an Oculus Rift which also uses HDMI, so I wanted to have my monitor use one of the DisplayPorts on the RX 480 with a DP to HDMI cable. After trying it out, it seems that this monitor does not allow 75hz on a DP to HDMI connection.
Could I just use a normal HDMI cable and attach a passive HDMI to DisplayPort adapter on one side to plug into the graphics card and get 75hz at 1080p? I heard that this would only work if the graphics card had DP++, but I cannot find out if my card does have DP++ or not.
Otherwise, would an active adapter such as this one work at 75hz?https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-DisplayPort-Supports-displays-3840x2160/dp/B00S0C7QO8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1548895904&sr=8-3&keywords=DisplayPort+to+HDMI+active+adapter
Thank you!
