can't get system to boot if using 6gb sata ports, works with 3gb ports though.

Do you have the (3rd party) ASMEDIA 1061 enabled in BIOS?
Is this with any SATA III device or just one? What is the device?

i believe so, just both 6gb sata, main hard drive is solid state, was working until last power outage, network port is also dead.

There's a bit of info that would have been good to know right off the bat. Power outages can be hazardous to delicate electronics if it was powered up (not necessarily running) when it happened. Is your system plugged into a good quality surge protector?

Yes it was powered on and is connected to good surge protector as is all my electronics, i believe its the mb.

I suspect the same. Surge protectors are only helpful up to a point. Depending on what caused the outage, the result could have been something the surge protector wasn't able to handle. Then again, it may have had nothing to do with the outage.

Pre built computer new, all ports worked until last power outage, have ordered another bd hoping not to have to reinstall everything.

You shouldn't have to re-install anything if the boards are identical. Might have to re-activate Win depending on which one you have.
