7700k fan compatibility

Hi, i have a i7-2600k stock fan sitting around and a friend of mine just bought a i7-7700k. we both thought it would come with a stock fan but it turns out that it doesnt. would the 2600k fan fit the lga1151 cpu\motherboard holes\mounts?

It should fit, but it probably isn't good enough for the i7-7700K at full load and it may throttle. Test it, but he should be prepared to buy a much better cooler.
