7700k with H100i Idle Temps at mid 40C, stress test temps at 80Ct

I recently built a computer with an i7 7700k and a corsair h100i v2 aio. I wanted to OC my cpu but my temps were pretty high for 4.5 GHz. I thought it was the pre applied thermal paste that came with the h100i v2 so i bought arctic silver 5 thermal paste and reapplied it. Now it runs at an idle 40C, and when i stress test, it goes up to low 80C. This is all at 4.5 GHz. These temps seem insanely high especially for an aio. Any help? Thanks!

Ya it does seem a little high, but at the same time are you in a warm climate? I have same cpu and h115i and I hit mid 70s occasionally while stress testing usually no higher than 62 while gaming.

Would ambient temperature really affect that much though? When i game, i get mid 60s temps too but I get low to mid 80s when stress testing, and i really want to OC or theres no point of me getting a 7700k but its already really got at only 4.5 Ghz. I've searched at what other ppl run and my temps seem to be a lot hotter. Im not sure if I installed anything wrong, but all the fans seem to be running and i just reapplied thermal paste.

What’s your VCore on your OC? My understanding is voltage has a bigger effect than clock rate.
