Am planing to upgrade to the HD XFX 7870, but looking online i see reviews of people getting 55-60 fps on High settings in BattleField 3 is this true?

With my 7770 ruining on 13.2 beta drivers am getting 40-50 fps on ultra and 60+ on high, depends on the map but never goes below 40 fps on high settings.

Am expecting 60+ on ultra from 7870 2GB

Solution
Getting back to your original question, you have to compare the 7770 and the 7850 at the same resolutions. I would guess the lower FPS on the 7850 are due to the reviewers (on the reviews you read) testing BF3 at 1080 P. You have your resolution at 900. So this is why you see the FPS you are seeing. A 7850 will out perform a 7770 at 1080P in BF3 any day. You have to make sure you are comparing different cards at the same resolutions to get accurate results.

Your telling me that my 7770 can do 40+ fps on ultra even 50 on some map with 64 players with MSAA On, and a 7870 cant do 60?

The nvidia gtx 680 is the most powerful common video card on the market. I've read many user reviews that said they are getting around 75 fps on Battlefield 3 with the 680. I have a 7850 which is alot more powerful than your 7770 and it gets 45 to 50 fps on ultra, and about 65fps on high with an fx 8320 eight core cpu. I think the game is just coded poorly.

Well for one my HDMI port on the 7770 is not working and am i wanna play on my 24 inch 1080 tv, cause my monitor is only 900p, and from what i read the 7770 wont do well at 1080p.

What resolution you gaming at
swilczak?

Op stated he is not at 1080 P, he is at something x 900.

Not really, it looks like it will be late 2013 for AMD.

If your CPU can keep up, there's a good chance even a 7850 would do 60 FPS at your resolution.
