X1900GT is better of those two.

But why you considering them? $399 for 7800GT????? OMFG, RIPOFF!!!!

Consider either X1800XT or 7900GT instead.

I would also strongly recommend at least 1gb of RAM, preferably 2gb, if you want to even open those games.

Screw that. You need more RAM to begin with....

Throw down for another stick of 512 THEN a GPU.

BTW: BF2142 is based upon the BF2 engine with a few minor visual tweaks.
So yes that sytem will run it. But as for Crysis.....=(, have to wait and see.

ok then how you know that with the xfx 7900gt xtreme edition it will not play well :?:
Too weak. Something higher end would be better.

A safe bet is:
4gb of RAM with Vista
G80 or R600
Any modern CPU, A64 at least, preferably dual core.

If they make the game to play well only with dx10 vga then imo it will be the most stupid move they will do.

For me a safe bet is:
x1900xtx or higher
2GB ddr-400 ram
a good dual core cpu

the x1800xt > 7900gt > x1900gt > 7800gt, so if u dont understand that, the x1800xt is the best, then 7900gt, then x1900gt and finally the $400 7800gt.. what were u thinking?

New to gaming are you?

Tons of games have this past, FartCry played 'well' at higher res only on newer cards, D3 played crap on anything but the latest hardware, Oblivion is severly hampered by lack of VPU power, so it's no surprise that Crysis will require the latest and greatest in order to play with everything turned on, not even cranked. UT2K7 will likely be similar, as will other titles next year.

That the developers have said that Crysis benefits grealy from DX10 performance boosts, as well as supposed heavy use of branching, means that's it's a good bet that the 7900GT will be unable toplay at mid-high res with everything on. Sure you'll still be able to play, but you'll likely have to turn some things down or lower your resolution.

Crysis will play fine with DX9 graphics cards. Think about it. Not everyone will buy a dx10 card when they will be released. The company who is making crysis will want everyone to be able to play it. Even those who have a p4 3GHz or worst

Why are you saying DX10 cards? Because they will have full support of DX10? Those are completely new generation, meaning, much more powerful. They're not just being released because of DX10. Also, we didn't say it wouldn't run on XP/DX9, but next-gen cards (G80, R600) will be more powerful, so game will run better, whether DX9 or Dx10.

Crysis will play fine with DX9 graphics cards. Think about it.

It will play, but your definition of fine is likely different than most enthusiasts.

Your theories as for why it will play well on crap systems, doesn't follow any previous history of FPS games. They all push the latest technology, not the previous generation.

So if you think 1024x768 with medium settings is 'fine', then yeah it'll play 'fine'.

I think the only difference in crysis between cards with support of dx9 and cards with support of dx10 will be the image quality(physics etc..). I know that G80 and R600 will be very fast cards but i don't think that an 7950GX2 or x1950xtx will play the game very much slower than a new g80/r600 card at resolutions below 1600x1200. With a high end card like 7950GX2 or x19500xtx i think we will be able to play the game at high quality settings with playable frames but only at resolutions below 1600x1200.
I might be wrong but for now that's what i think.

sorry if my english are not so good.

No, G80/R600 will totally kill X1900XT/7950GX2 any day.

Example:
X850XT-PE is best ATI card from the Xxxx generation. X1900XTX, best from X1xxx generation.

Now think about it,
The X1900XTX will totally, kill, in every single way, and is by far the better card of those two.

Example two:
6800Ultra is best nVidia card from the 6 series. 7900GTX is best from the 7 series.

Now think about it,
7900GTX will totally kill, in every single way, a 6800Ultra. 6800Ultra, can't touch a 7900GTX.

Now that you have thought about it, will X1950XTX/7950GX2 really run Crysis just as well as a G80/R600?

*sigh*

From G80 and R600 you will get more frames than the 7950GX2 and x1950XTX but that doesn't mean that the 7950GX2 and x1950XTX will not pay the game at high settings@res. below 1600x1200.
