Hi Guys,

I have an 7800X3D, ASUS B650 Plus Wifi motherboard and these Corsair sticks - Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 AMD Expo

With EXPO enabled the system is very unstable with constant crashes, when its off it all works OK. According to the ASUS help page, the memory above is not supported on my motherboard, but then it doesn't seems to have a lot of supported memory on the list (the best 6000MHz ones are CL36+)

In all honestly I am reluctant to try and overclock the RAM manually in BIOS, if they are advertising it as 6GHz CL30 it should work, so in my eyes its a faulty product.

Question - does anyone here have an x3d, a B650 motherboard and is running 6000MHz CL30 or better RAM? I can return the RAM for free within my return window, but then not sure what to get as a replacement?
I want the best latency RAM, but seemingly my motherboard doesn't support those (but they also probably haven't tested all the RAM sticks on the market)

Any advice is appreciated

better mainboard has better overclock potential (higher clock/lower CL timing)
QVL shows 6000 CL32-38-38-76 as lowest

btw that asus QVL also shows 1.35v for all EXPO/XMP sticks, none with 1.4v or higher, its possible that your mid range mainboard has high voltage stability issues like mine mobo does

If the Vengeance RAM is not 100% compatible with your motherboard, that might be the reason why it's not in the QVL.

If you bought a set of tyres with a Speed Rating of G (186mph/300km/h) and put them on a family runabout, would you complain to the tyre manufacture if your car didn't reach 186mph/300km/h on the freeway?

Proper bios?

Yeah I've got the latest BIOS for my motherboard (1616)

I suspect it could be something to do with the voltage, the Corsair needs 1.4V but all listed QVL RAM is only 1.35V, maybe the motherboard can't go that high.
So I am thinking about buying these instead, they are semi-supported (one letter is different, I am hoping its because of RGB)

Worse timings, but I will have to accept that I guess if I want to get 6000MHz to work

Some motherboards allow you to increase the RAM voltage well above 1.35V. This can be useful when you're overclocking on liquid Nitrogen and want to run your RAM at 1.80V.

If you dive into the more obscure settings in your BIOS you might find an option to increase the voltage. Take care above 1.45V and do not use more than 1.50V unless you know what you're doing.

There's generally a sweet spot with memory overclocking and performance. At very high speeds, the timings may have to be relaxed to such a degree that your programs run marginally slower.
