780ti Without stock cooler

Hello people of Tomshardware, i have a question about this 780ti that i bought of a dude. It was originally a reference design card, but he watercooled it with ek's waterblock. And now its mine, but the thing is that i dont have a costum loop, i am going to get a g10 bracket with an corsair h55 aio on it. I wanna test if the card at all works. I want to get some help from you guys before i proceed, i have also setup a 92mm pmw fan to blow on the 'Heatsink' and a 120mm casefan that is directly pushing air on the vrms and that location to the right of the card. There is also missing a thermalpad on one of the ram modules, there are enough for the back of the card for all of them, should i just take one of the ones from the behind of the chip and place it in on the side of the actual gpu core?

I got the heatsink from a gainward 760 that is a blower style card. I also have all the ek waterblock parts, i could test it out with that instead! )

I wouldn't bother with a kludge CLC type solution ... keep the block and add an expandable AIO. A Swiftech H240 or H320 , 18" of tubing and 2 G1/4 fittings and voila instant custom loop for CPU and GPU

Hello and thanks for quick answer, i just want to actually test the card before i buy anything else for it, i just wanna know if this solution can get me into windows just to make sure that the card is working.

Yeah just dont run crysis!

the card in idle will be fine just open your case and put it in front of the ac, that cooling will work for a while before it start to throlling

You will be fine for maybe 1 min after that the vrm's will most likely start overheating.

Well the thing is that i already have an h100i v.2 for my processor, it would be a waste to buy a whole loop for only the gpu, might aswell either just buy the swiftech because i already have the gpu block.... or just buy reservoir, pump, tubing and coolant.

The EK setup is made to be expandable. You can't really get better value for your money. They have a normal 240 loop with resovoir,pump and cpu block for 149$. Then you just get some random tubing and 2 fittings and you are good to go.

HOWEVER A BIG WARNING WHEN BUYING LIQUID COOLING EQUIPMENT!!!!!!!!

DO NOT MIX METALS. Make usre you know what your block is made out of before you get anything since mixing metals willl lead to corosion and will clog the tubes and eventually cause leaks.
