Ok I am running 8320 overclocked to 4.2ghz 8mb ram 970a ud3p motherboard,880w psu I was running 1x 7850hd 1gb graphics card and have added a 2nd identical card (same exact card) I'm having some trouble with performance in game's but not in 3d mark 2011.
1 card I get 6000 is at stock in 3d mark when I add the 2nd card it jumps to 10000 so all seems well... however in all games I have tried the performance is equal if not better with either card on its own.
I have tried several ways of installing the cards including full wipe and clean install but nothing makes any difference, I have followed all the tutorials I can find for settings in catalyst control and also msi afterburner settings but have had no change.
Am I missing something or is there a possibility the added card is failing? I know the original card is 100% ok as its been running over a long time however I have only tested the new card for a short period alone though it seemed to perform ok.
Thanks in Advance.

what game? what are your card and cpu usages?

some games just dotn work right with crossfire, you can sometimes use a different crossfire profile for games that dont work right. have you tested your overclock? a bad cpu overclock that is dropping cores can have the same affect

usages all as they should be I have tried both overlclocked on the cpu and stock only difference is fps drop more with stock setting.
Every game bf4, bf hardline, skyrim, elder scrolls online, wildstar all better or equal with one card.

what 880w psu? running dual amd gpus at x16/x4 although enough, x4 mode will hold back performance of the second gpu.also make sure you are perfectly stable with your overclocking. overheating and throttling will also cripple performance. please also state your cpu cooler.

temps are good. about your psu, i found this amazon link that states only 2x 6pin pcie power connectors.! true 550w psu would offer a lot more! if that is true then i would really suggest a psu upgrade.
HEC Compucase G7 Power Extreme 880W you should also check through gpuz that crossfire is enabled and the utilization of the second gpu while gaming.! dont forget that crossfire isnt equally supported by all games. make sure you are running the latest drivers and latest version of every game.

the corsair at 500w has 2x 6+2pin pcie power cables so you can imagine the true capabilities of the so called 880w psu of yours. the cx corsair will handle the load however go easy with overclocking. dont count it as a permanent solution. generally a 550w or above would be recomended for such setup!

PSU tier list 2.0

Ok have tried the corsair no difference in performance even with stock think I'm gonna just ship the card back and re think my upgrade, thanks for the help

sell both cards and grab a single newer card or even a used 290 or something would be a good upgrade.

I have had very good luck with used cards
