7850 should I be getting better performance?

I just got this card today. I don't think I'm bottlenecking because my cpu doesn't reach 100%. My gpu stays at about 50% load. It seems like it is this way with most games I have tried. If I run furmark it maxes out both the gpu and the cpu, but not during games. I was playing the game while open hardware info was open. The cpu only spiked to 100% while the game was loading up then while playing it wasnt running very high. I have the 13.1 drivers right now, but before that I had the 12.11 drivers and had the same problems.

You have a CPU bottleneck as that A6 is not really fast for running games and powerful GPUs. I recommend to start looking at getting a good Phenom II x4 CPU or better and OC it and that will fix the bottleneck.

Well I know, but I mean my card shouldn't be bottlenecking since it's not near 100% right? It doesn't seem to be running as well as it could. Shouldn't the gpu be running more than 55%?

That's not how bottlenecking works, I've run planetside on my system and the same thing happens. You need to upgrade your cpu or overclock it.

It really bottlenecks with the cpu cores running that low though? I will try overclocking, but that just seems a bit weird to me. I figured I would have some bottlenecking but not this bad

This is with the settings maxed out. Changing resolution doesn't change the framerate at all either

What clocks should I go for if I oc and will it make enough of a difference? And should I just use AMD overdrive? All I really care about it getting a pretty solid 60 fps if I can.

A6-3650 passmark CPU score 3350
intel i7 920 @2.67 score 5022
intel core i7-3770 @ 3.5GHx score 9645

you might want to run resource monitor and see if you can see where your bottleneck is. Your CPU is slower than my old i7 920 (network, memory, disk IO, CPU, or graphics card). just check to see if your disk subsystem is maxed out in IO or your netcard is having issues

Passmark doesn't mean anything, its 100% synthetic

I really didn't expect to be bottlenecked this much. Kinda feel like I wasted my money because I didn't want to get a cpu for awhile, but I might have to. Games I could run before with my 7750 run either the same or worse. If I lower any settings it runs worse than my 7750 and if I max out the settings it runs the same. The only positive is I am running higher settings, but no increase in performance really.

Would an AMD A8-3870K be enough to lessen the bottleneck? It's the fastest APU I can get without a new motherboard since I have the fm1 socket. I really don't feel like taking my motherboard out to install it though so idk what I'm gonna do. Plus the fact I have no idea how to install an APU.

I can't overclock in my bios and overclocking with amd overdrive didn't make a difference.

Edit:
I just uninstalled and used driver sweeper then reinstalled the drivers and I am getting a lot better performance. I can actually lower settings and get better framerate now.

What would be the cheapest cpu/motherboard I could get that wouldn't bottleneck? Would it be possible to get both for less than or equal to around $200? I would love to get an i5 2500k, but idk if I want to spend that much right now.

i have a hard time believing a modern cpu is bottlenecking a 7850 but its possible as the A6 has weak single threaded performance. you might wanna consider upgrading your cpu to intel platform . even an i3 will beat the pants out of an A6 Llano

If I got a motherboard I could overclock with would that lessen the bottleneck enough with my 3650? Also what would be a good cooler that is smaller? Or what if I got something like the AMD Phenom II X4 965?

hey look, planetside 2, possibly the most graphically intensive game ever?
