7870 Crossfire support?

Hello, I have a single ATI Radeon 7870 (2GB GDDR5) and since I'm tight on cash at the moment I would like to know what other cards will support crossfire with this video card. I have heard that you need the same amount of GDDR5 (2GB) but I am not sure whether or not that is only for Nvidia or it also applies to AMD as well. Also I am wondering if i need the same architecture or not.

A 7870 can be crossfired with a 7870 or a 7850 according to this official grid. It's best to use the same model GPU for best performance, different amounts of memory and different clock speeds can lower performance in Crossfire.
