7870 has framerate drops in every game

posting this here but i dont know if its the video card or the cpu causing this.

my specs:

intel i3 2100
asus p8h61 m le csm rev 3.0
8 gb ram
128 gb SSD
amd 7870
cooler master silent pro 600w

every game i ran (batman AC, crysis warhead, battlefield 3) has constant frame rate dips. it will be at 60 fps then drop to 30 then back up is it my GPU or my motherboard? am i being bottle necked because of my cpu?



if i need to upgrade should i keep the motherboard or buy a new one?

If it happens at moments of gfx intensity (explosions, many lights etc) then this is normal. But if not then update your gpu drivers, if it still occurs then the the cpu or mobo is to blame as a bottleneck, but I seriously doubt that.

Edit: H61 and i3 2100 is quite low end...
Its a little unbalanced even, why did you get this cpu and mobo, an i5 would suit better with z68 or p/h67.

the i3 was all i could afford at the time. i have alot more money now so i can afford a i5.

which is why i bought a 7870
