Well I have been doing some research into what graphics card to put in my new system (I just can't wait for DX10 :( ), which is gonna be based around a E6600 conroe. However, I can't decide whether the extra money i'd spend on the 7950 GX2 would really translate into a noticeable performance difference. Then of course if I go with the 7900GTX would a X1900 XTX be a better choice? And as a final question :) does n e one know if it will be possible to cross fire ATis next generation of the cards with the 1900 XTX (in which case this would clearly be a good option)?
Sorry for asking SO many questions....

Hmmmmm well the 7900GT is quite good, but I have the budget for the upper ranges of current cards, and i really wanna see oblivion at high settings :D

Ok, well that is making me feel better about not spending all my money on a 7950 GX2, so generally does anyone know if a 1900 XTX is gonna be a better choice than a 7900 GTX?

If you're playing oblivion at 1600x1200 or higher, I'd go for the 7950 GX2 or the x1900xtx. The ridiculous amount of memory onboard the GX2 means you can run the best detail textures without slowing the frame rate.

I'll only be playing it at 1280x1024, so the GX2 may be overkill....

In that case, get an X1800XT. Or if you want something interesting, or want to overclock/mod your card, take a look at the X1800GTO2. It's a 512MB X1800XT with a different BIOS. If you flash the BIOS to the XT BIOS, you'll have a 512MB XT for $225 (w/o shipping).

lol ok, you have probably just saved me quite a bit of money (i will be able to eat this month :D ), so just to push my luck and keep asking questions, is the x1900 xtx goin to give me more options than a 7900 GTX for upgrading in a years time, or should i just go with the NVidea?

edit: Oooo the 7900gtx is quite a bit cheaper, hadn't realised that
