Ok I have narrowed the choices from prior posts to either a 760 or 7950. Not sure which to choose though. I do 50/50 gaming/media center usage.

I might be wrong but looks like in Benchmarking (which is all we have to go on besides owning it and trying it) the 7950 beats 760 on all normally benchmarked games. I know both are "very good" but I want to buy either of the two and want to know which to go with. Can someone help and explain rather than throw out a name and say get this?

My choices (help from another post) if 760:
1. MSI
2. Gigabyte

I am not sure what to choose if 7950 is better:
-*please make recommendations* as to 1 or 2 great 7950 cards. I planned on spending up to the price of a 760, but the comparison of the 7950 came up.

I have an AMD FX 8530, Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 4.0, and a CM 700V and "planned to overclock my PC".

go for the 7950... it is good especially in overclocking.. those from sapphire and asus are good. I recommend it because I have it. wait for the other answers though. but for me, 7950 is a good choice over 760.

yeh if I double up later, I will upgrade the PSU. I dont know why I would double up though yet....

Why do you say 7050 over 760? What 7950 is the best in your opinion? Maybe 2 choices...thanks

7950 has more vram as well and is more future proof. Also a maxed overclocked 7950 against a maxed overclocked gtx 760 the 7950 will outclass it in every game. The 7950 is the better card

Which Sapphire do you have?

I agree with bad eyes. get a gigabyte 7950. the 7950 is better than the 760 because it is just overall a faster card, but also it has a wider memory bus 256-bit vs 384-bit, and also has 3GB of vram opposed to the 760's 2gb or vram. Both of those advantages will be better for the future

at this point the HD 7950 is a no-brainer. AMD is giving them away. you can score one for under $200 with a boatload of free games, while the cheapest GTX 760 is about $250. If not overclocked (but boost clocks on the 7950 are on) the two cards are pretty much tied in performance. here is a review i was looking at: http://www.legitreviews.com/amd-radeon-hd-7950-w-boost-versus-nvidia-geforce-gtx-760_2227/3

one of my friends was in the same boat as you about a month ago but the HD 7950 was going for over $300, so i told him to get a GTX 760. AMD's price cuts are extremely aggressive, from what i know they are already in bad shape in terms of profits, so I can't figure out why they are doing this. maybe trying to score some converts from nVidia? Who knows...

if you are going to shop on newegg, i would actually recommend the Gigabyte version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414

for starters, you get a longer warranty (3 years vs 2 years). and it is actually a very good card. my brother has it and he really likes it. also, personally I like the way gigabyte cards are built more compared to sapphire.

EDIT: I would also like to add that in the event that you will need to do an RMA, gigabyte makes it very painless. i've had to do it 3 times with them (once for a GPU and twice for mobos). haven't had any problems and they send out replacements quick.

I agree with this guy. The warranty is great, it's the cheapest, and has an awesome cooler

vapor x is also good, I just don't have it because I couldn't afford it when I was looking for a new gpu last year. vapor x is better than the dual x.

On Sapphires website. there are 9 7950's!!! F'n crazy and their website has compare buttons that dont allow you to compare. WTF! I remember reading that there are some Sapphire cards to avoid since they dont allow boost or OC over 1.3 volts, or something like that....I dont know much about cards.

just tossing this, not forcing you but the gigabyte 7950 with stock voltages

GPU Clock: 1200 MHz Memory Clock: 1575 MHz
GPU Default: 1000 MHz Memory Default: 1250 MHz
GPU Overclock: +20% Mem Overclock: +26%

I read odd things about sapphire as well and gigabyte, I just went with the cheapest one I could get, all 7900 series get 3 games, and now you get to choose your 3 games, it all evens out :)

Whats the difference in these two?
11196-16-20G 11196-19-20G

Also, why do you say Vapor-X is better than Dual-X?

Found the difference. With that said, between these two, which is better?

SAPPHIRE 100352-2L . this card's model no is 11196-16-20G. uses a reference AMD HD 7950 PCB design. there is a AMD marking above the PCI- express connector which is found on all reference AMD cards. compatible with full cover waterblocks. card is 29 cm long. dual link dvi, hdmi, 2 mini displayports. unlocked voltage.

SAPPHIRE 100352-3L . This card's model no is 11196-19-20G . custom PCB design. incompatible with full cover waterblocks. card is 27 cm long. shorter PCB with different set of ports. dual link dvi-i, single link dvi-d, hdmi, displayport. could have locked voltage. need feedback from users who have this card. its a new sku by sapphire.

I saw your link with the Sapphire card you have, but which is it? It looks like in the pic, that you have the 100352-3L (11196-19-20G)? That link you sent has a chrome corner piece on the card face. Does yours as well? I just want to make sure I am looking at the same model as yours.

the GPU i have is the SAPPHIRE 100352-2L. is that the one you are going to buy?
