7950 to R290 worth it? dual 30" setup

Yes I am crazy using 2 30" monitors with just one card but that's what I have. I just want to know if upgrading to the 290 will help much? My specs are Phenom 1090T @ 4.2GHz, 24GB of RAM. Crosshair IV Extreme. My mobo has issues with 32GB so I just use 3 sticks. I can play Tomb Raider on almost highest settings including tressfx with dual monitor but I have AA turned off and its usually around 15-25FPS. Can get as low as 10 when things get crazy.

SO I am asking if the 290 will increase my FPS much? I am broke now with the monitors so I can't afford 2 or 3 video cards so 1 will have to do at this time. Thanks.

the r9 290 is about 60% more powerful so you will notice

What resolution are your monitors? It will definitely give you a significant performance increase and if you're running 1080p, should give you very, very playable framerates. But if you can find it, getting another 7950 and crossfiring it would be a cheaper option.

i highly endorse the crossfire of the 7950 been nothing but good to me

I had 7950 crossfire and they were awesome, especially as they easily o/c by 40-50%! I swapped for a single R9-290, which performs about 20% less than the 7950 crossfire, which is pretty good for a single card. I can recommend the Sapphire Tri-x, an excellent cooler.

How do you manage to game with 2 monitors with the split in the middle? Doesn't it make FPS games difficult?

The monitors are 2560x1600 which is 5120x1600 in dual screen.

Yes it is annoying. I am hoping to get a 3rd monitor soon to fix that. There is a few games that are dual screen friendly that allow you to put your character on the left centre or right centre side of the screen like The Witcher 1 EE and maybe the 2nd as well.

It would be playable but not at max settings for the more graphically demanding games. I have a 290 and one 1440p screen and I can max out just about everything, but games like the Witcher 2 struggles at some parts. X-fire 7950's are honestly probably your best bet as long as you have the psu to handle it.

I decided to get a 290 and later I'll get a second for crossfire. I'm been getting too used to the 10-30FPS lately with my 2X30" monitors LOL Thanks for the suggestions.
