7950 vs 290x Sapphire, noise difference?

One thing i love about the sapphire 7950 is that its very, very quiet and has great cooling.

Willl the sapphire 290x be as quiet? thanks.

I have a Sapphire R290x Tri-x. It only makes a perceptible amount of noise running Star Citizen, and that is because I ramped up the fan speed profile.

^^Thank you. Sapphire is by far my favorite card manufacturer, in fact theyre a big reason for why i want to get the 290x over the 970. I cant afford the 290x vapor x version now though

I run mid 50's C for temps in most games, Star Citizen will run it up to 70c with all settings maxed.
Which is still a very safe temp for a 290x. I guess the Vapour-x runs cooler, but it is quite expensive, which is why I got a Tri-x.

However.......3xx cards will be announced soonish. I cannot reccomend anyone buying a high end card for the next month or so unless they have to, because let's see some benchmarks on the 3xx cards, and let the makers like Sapphire come up with good cooling solutions for these new cards.

Even if you still go for a 290x, it is very likely it will be cheaper, soon.

I got mine about 6 months ago. It was NOT cheaper lol.

Yeah, im fiending now. Im looking to spend not a penny more than 300 for a card, so I dont know if anything in the 3xx series will do it for me, or whether I'll be happy to spend less on a 290x. For now I'm overclocking my 7950 on overdrive, just to kill time haha
