i just bought a gigabyte 7970 ghz card since having it i feel as though its lacking in performance when compared to others with the same card ,example in bf3 ultra no aa
i get anywhere from the lowest of 40 fps to 100+ where as some on youtube with same exact card and stock clocks like mine are getting lowest 70 to 100+
i ran it in furmark and compared my score to these

http://www.geeks3d.com/20120413/furmark-opengl-benchmark-scores-comparative-charts/

my score same settings as they used
SCORE:3866 points (64 FPS, 60000 ms)

my scores are even better than theres but actual in game performance seems to suggest otherwise and i just dont know what to do

my setup
Case- nzxt phantom
gpu-gigabyte 7970 ghz
cpu-1090t phenom II @3.2
ram-8gb g skill ripjaws 1600
mobo-asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3
psu-rosewill bronze series 1000 watt
hdd-samsung spinpoint F1 7200rpm

another strange thing is that if i use aa in any game at all even just 2x aa i get my frames cut by like 20 to 30 i kno u take a hit but not that big especially not for no 2x aa something aint right if anyone can shed some light for me i would be grateful the last thing i wanna do is rma

I'm not entirely sure, but it seems to me that your cpu might be bottlenecking your 7970...

I think you have a slight bottleneck in bf3 because of CPU
For aa problem some games lose 30% of fps for 2xaa(max payne) Or have you changed setting in drivers for aa anti aliasing mode to adaptive multi-sample or super-sample aa for best performance it shud be multi-sample aa

I don't know much about specs and that sort of thing but I can say that I have the identical gigabyte 7970 gh edition card and I am paired with the intel i7-3770k cpu. I have 16gb of 1333 ram(ouch...I know) Now when I played the crysis 3 demo, I was at stock gpu and cpu settings and I pumped the crysis3 settings to max everything....

I found I was getting about 25 fps average playing it. my cpu temps went to about 68c and gpu temps were around 45c, if I remember correctly. Everything was stable and the game was very playable.

Based on what you've said, I'd have to enter my meagerly educated opinion that your cpu is some of the problem here. You should be able to do some basic 2xAA without problem.

Some strong hardware there, but 25 fps is nowhere near stable :??:
As a regular gamer you'd want close to at least 60 fps :ange:

Playing online makes the game far more CPU demanding. It will also vary from map to map. On some maps, even high end Intel CPU's bottleneck performance. It is just the nature of BF3. I don't think I've heard of anyone who didn't drop into at least the 50's from time to time on the right maps.

Indeed. I found that smaa x4 was the sweet spot for me. FPS fluctuated between 54 and 68 fps. I'm not sure what sort of juggernaut computer system would be needed to play at full settings with consistant 60fps but I think I'm close enough :)

Probably intended for the next intel series, Haswell and the next nvidia 700-series maybe even maxwell in 2014...
Crysis was born to push hardware, and of course, make a *** ton of money :pt1cable:
