7970 + r9-280x better then 290?

So i already have a gigabyte 7970 card and is thinking about xfire it with a r9-280x would this outpeform a 290x? or where would this scale compared in peformance to other cards?

because i dont wanna get a 290x well i want but that would be a waste of my 7970 that i have and it does everything i want in almost all games so i think that putting in a r9-280x would be much better for me and will last "longer".

So with a 7970+r9-280x in xfire how well would they run games in eyefinity 3 monitors all 1080p on ultra settings in games like titanfall bf4 etc? what fps should i expect?

this is for the future i will later get the screens if i feel like it so any opinions is welcomed. thx

For the future you are better off to wait for 20nm gpus coming sometime late this year, especially if 7970 meets your needs for now.

7970 and 280x crossfire would crush a 290x in terms of preformance. I don't know how long it will last, but you should be able to game in max settings for the next 2 years in 1080p. In eyefinity, I would expect that you could play every game on high settings, but all the extra pixels will probably make it too demanding to run everything in max settings.
