7990 6GB still a valid option ?

I was just thinking... Would a 6GB 7990 For 400-420 be a valid option ? Else I thought about 280X 6GB... Same price. I was just wondering which one would be the best. I thought the 7990 could be awesome, and I can add another one later, right ?

hd 7990 is still a beast but it consumes a lot of power generates lots of heat.

At your budget you can get the gtx 970 which would be much better than the r9 280x.

I used to own a 7990, A great card. I replaced it as running a single GPU with what was available was far better for my needs, at the time I purchased a R9 290X afterwards. I have no shame in recommending either, but all in all I would choose a GTX 970.

NOTE; The 7990 only can use 3GB Vram.

I will choose the gtx 970 less power less heat good drivers and lots of new features if you can spend more then gtx 980 is also a great option 550$.
