Are you gaming? You don't get Tesla or something like that. This is for professional graphics when you do things like 3Ds Max, Folding at Home, etc. The gaming performance of Tesla cards are not much faster than something like 560 ti or maybe even 460. So at gaming you go better totally with a 7990. Because if you get Tesla, you will totally waste your money if you are gaming. However if you want to do professional jobs as I said before, you'd better go with Tesla, because it's designed for that. Which means, it depends on your needs because these cards are designed for different purposes. Good luck on your purchase :) and have a good day.

Are you sure you're asking the right question? Tesla is the name of some of nVidia's dedicated GPGPU cards. Hence, you can't make a direct comparison: these are two entirely different types of product.

If you were intending to make the comparison to nVidia's Fermi cards, that'd be more plausible, as that's the code-name for their "GF100" GPUs, used in the GeForce 400 and 500 cards. Benchmarks showed that the 7970 handily beat the GTX 580, and often rivaled the GTX 590, so it's safe to assume that the 7990 would best it, too.

If you wanted a comparison with nVidia's upcoming Kepler (GK100) cards for their GeForce 600 series, no one can give you an accurate answer there.
